All eyes were toward the Las Vegas sky yesterday evening as the $1 billion M Resort, Spa and Casino debuted its 178 foot M Lightship — the resort’s electronic blimp with the world’s largest 70′ x 30′ aerial television screen on the side. The M Lightship will be the only airship in the world offering the public a close-up, hands-on experience. The resort intends to create a center, which will provide information about the Lightship as well as offer the public a chance to meet the captain and crew, take photos and obtain Lightship souvenirs.
“We envision the M Lightship as an exciting addition to the Las Vegas community,” said Anthony A. Marnell, III. “Plans are underway to house the lightship on a property adjacent to the resort and we are looking forward to offering tours of the lightship to the public.” Read more

(Obviously M Resort’s lightship wont be advertising chicken sandwiches)
M Resort, Spa and Casino, an all-new $1 billion resort to be completed in March of 2009 on South Las Vegas Boulevard, has signed an exclusive agreement with The Lightship Group, the world’s largest airship operator, to bring a new era in outdoor advertising and entertainment — a flying electronic lightship, which is one of only three in the world — to the Las Vegas sky beginning in September.
On the forefront of outdoor advertising and the use of visual stimulation to drive sales, M Resort will be home to the twin-engine A-170LS video lightship, which is essentially an electronic lightsign on a blimp. Utilizing an array of LEDs (light emitting diodes) the lightship features the world’s largest 70′ x 30′ aerial television screen. It is able to broadcast a multitude of media from live television and streaming video, to web sites and static images and offers vibrant full-color clarity. Read more

The first phase will include a 201-room hotel tower, casino, meeting space, pool, restaurants, movie theater, arcade and a large shopping complex.
An additional 525 hotel rooms are planned for a second phase although the company has not set a construction date yet.

M Resort
M Resort has a high-profile investor, MGM Mirage, which is financing $160 million through a subordinated convertible note.
M Resort will market to two audiences, locals in southern reaches of the Las Vegas Valley and a visitor seeking an upscale niche property away from the Strip. The site’s elevation will give M Resort visitors a view of the Las Vegas lights.
