Kenny Loggins Las Vegas

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Kenny Loggins is best known for his lyrical and familiar melodies. He first rose to fame as songwriter for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s “House at Pooh Corner” and then as a folk rock duet with Loggins & Messina with musician Jim Messina in the early ’70s.
Loggins’ solo debut album, Celebrate Me Home in 1977 spawned his first solo hit of the same name, and in 1978 he won his first Grammy award for his song, “What a Fool Believes.” The following year, Loggins received another Grammy for his hit song “This Is It.” He released High Adventure in 1982 which featured “Don’t Fight It,” a duet with Steve Perry, and “Heart To Heart.” Read more

Skip Martin, Formerly of Kool & The Gang, will Groove the South Padre inside Texas Station Every Sunday

Skip Martin, formerly of Kool & the Gang, and his seven-piece band will be appearing at South Padre inside Texas Station every Sunday, beginning March 1. With doors opening at 1:30 p.m., the band will be playing jazz compilations from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and dance music from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Martin’s tenor voice and warm styles are inspired by artists such as Miles Davis, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Donny Hathaway and have earned him multiple awards in his more than 30 years composing and performing. In 1982, he received a Grammy Award for R&B Song of the Year for the hit song, “Let It Whip,” while playing with The Dazz Band. He was the original lead vocalist and trumpet player for the group from 1978 to 1987, reunited with the group in 1996 and performed with them until 2008.
Martin joined Kool & the Gang in 1987 as its lead vocalist. The band is best known for the songs “Celebration,” “Cherish,” “Jungle Boogie,” “Summer Madness” and “Open Sesame,” among others. In 2007, the band released the album Still Kool with the single Steppin’ Into Love, which became its first entry on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart since 1989.
South Padre is a 300-seat venue offering an open exterior bar for customers to see lounge entertainment taking place inside the venue. The show is free of charge and open to all ages. Guests under 21 must be accompanied by an adult. Entry is first-come, first-served and based upon venue capacity.

Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood Play MGM Grand Garden Arena June 27

After their historic three nights at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood announced an exclusive 14-city U.S. tour beginning June 10. Their tour will make a stop in Las Vegas to perform at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, June 27. The concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
After a stunning collaboration at the Chicago Crossroads Guitar Festival in July 2007 and much speculation, Clapton and Winwood announced three eagerly anticipated concerts at Madison Square Garden. Those shows featured the artists performing together in a varied set list including Blind Faith classics and solo hits from each artist. Critics cited the shows as historic and some of the best work ever for both Clapton and Winwood. The tour promises more of the same collaborative musicianship that made these men legendary award-winning artists. Read more
